WHY A HEALTHY MORNING ROUTINE IS IMPORTANT IN ACHIEVING SUCCESS!

How do you start your day?
Creating healthy habits and a morning routine that serves you well is pinnacle to achieving success and after working in the health and fitness industry for over 15 years I too have seen this first hand. Not only does having a morning routine set your tone for the day it can also
​help you to reduce overwhelm, and create more organization, inevitably having you working smarter, not harder.
 
Increasing your productivity and leveraging your time is hugely important to achieving lifestyle success, and as you will be reading in posts to follow, many tips and strategies on how to make these habits a part of your day to day life is a huge key to help serve and support you in your journey to achieving your lifestyle goals.
You will never have this day again, so make it count.
​I am naturally a night owl, however years of conditioning as a personal trainer meant that I was up at the crack of dawn 6 mornings a week, and working around the clock. The hard part was that I loved my late nights and this would pay its toll when the alarm would sound at 5am. There were moments when I would rush out the door breakfast in hand and not really have a proper relaxed start to my day, I was on the run all the time.
This type of routine took its toll on my wellbeing and had a major impact on my productivity. Although I was ticking off all my to do list and acing my goals, I ended up finding myself feeling zapped by the end of my day and would run myself into the ground thinking I was productive only to realize I was being counterproductive. I wasn’t leveraging my time the best I knew how and I wasn’t allowing myself the time I really needed to recharge properly.

By creating a healthy morning routine, I am now set up for my day ahead, with more energy and focus than what I had before, and here’s some of my tips to show you how you too can do the same:
  • Set your alarm for 5am (even place it away from your bed, and yes this means that you actually have to get out of bed to turn it off lol).
 
  • Allocate your first waking hour to yourself.
  1. The first 20 minutes do some exercise that makes you feel good.
  2. Dedicate the next 20 minutes to your own personal development, whether that is reading a book, listening to a great podcast etc, something that stimulates your growth and interests.
  3. For the final next 20 minutes, set your daily intentions and actions for your day and put them in your diary or phone even set reminders throughout your day on what needs to be acted upon in order for you to achieve your goals.
 
  • Have a healthy breakfast, I love a great natural muesli, or some poached eggs with spinach and mushrooms on toast, topped off with a freshly squeezed OJ and I’m in heaven, so plan and prepare your healthy start to your day with a beautiful healthy breakfast, because your worth it.
 
Remember everyday is a new day. Don’t live in the past.
