Want to get more done in less time? Then these simple time saving tips can cut your cleaning load and have your home sparkling clean in no time. Cleaning is one of those household chores, which if not done effectively can leave you feeling as though it’s never complete and constantly chasing your tail. If your not careful, it can also eat away a lot of your time. But what if it didn’t have to be that way? What if you had a solid cleaning routine that meant you could actually complete it and have the time to sit down, take a break, and have your KitKat too, lol! With these simple time saving tips below you can not only cut your cleaning time, but bound into the rest of your day with a spring in your step as well as more time on your hands. So let's get started... Tip 1: Have a checklist Having a cleaning checklist saves you time and energy because it means you’re not stopping and thinking about what you still need to complete or miss areas that you need to come back to whilst getting the job done. It will reduce your stress and create more organisation and ease in your clean. Tip 2: Keep all of your cleaning products in one space Doing this will save you stacks of time because you won’t be running extra miles you don't need, like going to one end of the house to grab the mop, then the other to get your bucket. By having everything together you can take your bucket of goodies as you make your way throughout the house. This will have you cleaning your bathroom in the time it could have taken you to find your cleaner. All without having to keep going back time and time again to get what you need for the next task. Step 3: Clean your whole house at once By cleaning a little here and there will take you more time than if you commit to completing a full house clean all in one go. This will have you actually completing the task in one hit without having to constantly revisit it on your list of things to do every day, as well as put your mind at ease. Step 4: Have a schedule Set a certain time and day that you clean. Doing this will allow you to also hold yourself accountable because by making the time is making it a priority and it will actually get done rather than finding a distraction or something else to take over it’s priority. Making for a consistently clean home with less stress and more ease. I put aside a set day where I allocate my 45 minutes which is just once a week and that’s it, so keep it simple and follow though on your commitment. Tip 5: Use a Timer This can be a great way to hold yourself accountable to your time frames and task allocations. Decide how long you are going to need before you start, then divide this into chunks of time allocated to certain tasks ie. Vacuuming, mopping etc so that you now have a set benchmark on the time it should take you to complete each cleaning task. I usually take 45 minutes to clean toilets, vacuum, and mop my home all in one clean swoop and that’s it for my week. The sooner it’s complete, the more time you have to do other things so decide, commit and complete. Tip 6: Spot Clean Daily By completing spot cleaning tasks will help you to cut down on your mopping time and maintain the cleanliness of your home every week. It might be a simple 5 minute sweep of the floor at the end of the day (which will save mopping time due to less grime and build to mop each week), or a wipe down of the benches after use. There is immense power in the small stuff. From putting the toilet lid down after use, to completing the dishes after each meal, all of our little habits and actions contribute to how clean we keep our home, so by having the routine of cleaning daily will help you to maintain a clean home and save you time each day. Tip 7: Keep a decluttered space
It’s almost impossible to do an adequate job of cleaning your home if there is clutter, papers, dirty dishes and items here there and everywhere. By picking up as you go can be a big time saver for when it comes to vacuuming and mopping so that your not having to spend 15 minutes just trying to clear the floor. This means that when it’s time to clean you’ll be able to do so without the distraction caused by such out of place items.
