Hack #1
It’s all about the ‘OM’

First you must give your inbox a little love in order to create a little calm.
By making the time to take action to clear the clutter on a consistent basis is super important.
Otherwise, what’s the point of doing the hard yards if your bogged down again in a few days time, right?

Consistency is key here, so give your inbox the time and ‘OM’ it needs and it will bring calm and ease to your life on a daily basis!

Hack #2
Let’s start with your Spam folder!

This space is often what can clog your inbox quickly if not managed properly.
Set your spam or junk email filter to remove the copious amounts of emails you can receive, from advertisements and the like.

Also unsubscribe to any emails you no longer want to receive so that you’re not bombarded with unnecessary emails every time you open your inbox.

Create a system of success

Clear the email clutter by setting aside some time in your weekly schedule to filter through and review all of your email files.

Here it’s important to set up folders (and sub category folders if need be) to suit your work and lifestyle needs:
  • Let go of those emails that you no longer need or use
  • Keep and file those emails still to be actioned in a seperate ‘in action’ folder
  • And store those emails that are actioned but need to be kept on record in a seperate labelled folder so that they are out of your everyday inbox.

​Keep work at work

Having a seperate work email helps to avoid cross clutter and distraction from personal life with work life.
This means your emails won’t be filling up with those classic family or friends birthday, holiday pics, messages and the like 😆
 
Sticking to this habit will help you to focus on the tasks at hand especially when working from home.

Make your inbox timely

Set yourself certain times that you check and respond to your email inbox.
​This helps to build clear and consistent boundaries around the times you choose to engage in emailing. 
​
It’s counterproductive to keep checking your emails all day long so get timely with when and how long you are going to allocate to this task on a daily basis.

These times may vary  depending upon your work and lifestyle needs.
It also helps to train those around you to know when they can get a hold of you which can reduce those late, last minute 9pm replies.
