‘It’s the most wonderful time of the year’ (insert carol here 😉 🎄 ) … but it can also be the most stressful time for
From organising family and social functions, to gift shopping, and getting meals ready in knick of time, it can sometimes get overwhelming and you can be left feeling like you have a never ending to-do list.
With what should be a fun time of year can soon turn into stress and mess where you can find yourself in survival mode just to get through the week ahead.
In fact, sometimes the mere thought of the week ahead can tire you out, leaving you feeling defeated before you even start 😞
But it doesn’t have to be this way, by creating a little organisation you will have less stress and more time in your day ⏰
Here are some of my favourite organisation hacks that will help you to lighten the load this Christmas and those still to come.
So let’s get started…
Build better habits, rather than chase better results
HACK 1: Keep a run list
When it comes to getting your gifts sorted a great way to save time is to create a run list of all of your family members and along side it place the gift ideas they might like before you shop, then keep it saved as a template for the following year.
I love to do this for family, friends, and work colleagues each year as well as for children's cards and so on, then all you need to do each year is alter name and addresses where need be and it's all ready to take action 📖
On the home front, creating a jobs list is also the way to go.
On this list you can include things such as outdoor maintenance to be complete, along with your every day cleaning schedule that needs to be done 🧼
Simply save this list as a template for next year so it becomes a schedule that works for your lifestyle needs, saving you time, stress and mess for when next December comes around and Santa comes to town 🎅
HACK 2: Start early
Whether its the big Christmas gift shop up, or getting started on the jobs list, starting earlier is a big key to reducing mess and stress at Christmas.
It helps in freeing up time to spend with loved one’s so that you’re not frantic in the kitchen or running ragged trying to get things finished before the big day.
I love starting and finishing most of my gift shopping by December then I just get those extra little things that I need closer.
Even buying up on boxing day sales for birthdays the next year can be a great organisation hack too, along with post Christmas bargains for the following year.
HACK 3: Get organised the week before
Schedule in your fresh food grocery shop.
Have your grocery list ready and pre buy other items you need the week before the big day.
This way you will save time, even go as far as prepping or pre cooking certain things that will reduce mess and stress in the kitchen on the day, leaving you more time to spend with loved one's. Better yet, get the whole family involved will help in lightening the cooking load, and delegate if need be.
Christmas is such a great time to clear the clutter in the home ready to create space for what’s to come, so be sure to start early, and don't forget to have that extra stock pile of batteries for those children’s toys when you need them 🧸
