Feeling a little isolation funk? What better time to get your home in order than now! Creating a space you love with less stress and more ease has never been more important. With that being said, our very own bathroom is a space that we use every single day, which is all the more reason to give it that extra bit of TLC that it often needs. Right now is the prime time to take care of your health and wellness with the extra time on your hands due to the current state of the world and the stress of the chaos we have encountered over recent weeks. Creating routines which include activities such as decluttering, organising and self care can help to boost your immune system and support your mental and physical health. In fact decluttering helps you to clear your mind and feed your soul. All the more reason to give the spaces you live that extra bit of TLC. So today we are in the bathroom where I am sharing 5 of my helpful hacks to help you to declutter and organise your bathroom space. Hack #1 Clear and Clean Pull out everything in your bathroom cupboards and on your bathroom shelves. From half empty shampoo bottles to those items stuck up the back of your bathroom drawers. Pull them all out and place items on a towel on the bathroom floor. Then give your bathroom a thorough clean. Be sure to get rid of all grime, and built up residue. - Take off any shower storage holder or curtains and clean - Clean mirrors - Basins - including plug rings and around tap surfaces - Wipe over cupboards, tiling, and shower screens and surfaces Hack #2 Take Stock of your products Use up old products or get rid of them if they are out of date or you no longer use them. Any double ups can be kept and stored so once you’ve finished with one you can move onto the next. Items such as Cosmetics can take up quite a bit of space in your bathroom, and similar to our clothing we can tend to wear only 20% of our make-up, 80% of the time. So take stock and get rid of all of your out of date make-up products and old overused make-up brushes. For products such as mascaras it can be good to replace them every 3-6 months to avoid bacteria build up as well as eliminating any old nail polish products that you no longer like the color palette and / or never use. This also includes hair and dental products so be sure to go through the whole lot. Hack #3 Replenish and Replace When was the last time you cleaned your makeup brushes or had a good look at your toothbrush? Let's be honest here lol... First and foremost, give them a good clean! Then go through your entire bathroom and get rid of any old loafahs, pumice stones, sponges, razor blades or anything that looks old and overused that needs a replacement. I don’t like throwing things out all of the time but for these consumable items there’s definitely a time and a place for when they need to replaced. Especially your toothbrush which can become old and tacky pretty quickly and should be replaced around every 3 months. Hack #4 Create a space for everything you need This helps to organise and prioritise your bathroom space which can help to save you time, energy, and money.
